Question 1

What is AgriSound?

Accepted Answer

AgriSound is an agronomy data and intelligence business that empowers customers to collect, structure, and interpret data around production, biodiversity, ESG, and operational improvement. We fill the expertise gap for farm teams that often lack internal scientific, monitoring, or data analysis capabilities, providing the tools and intelligence needed to turn field signals into actionable insights.

Question 2

Who typically uses AgriSound?

Accepted Answer

Our platform is designed for a diverse range of stakeholders in the agricultural ecosystem, including commercial growers looking to optimise production, agronomists seeking data-led field insights, supply chain managers focused on ESG and biodiversity, and food retailers verifying sustainability claims.

Question 3

What crops can AgriSound monitor?

Accepted Answer

AgriSound technology is versatile and effective across a wide array of pollinator-dependent crops in both open fields and protected environments (polytunnels or glasshouses), including berries (strawberries, blueberries), tree crops (almonds, apples, cherries, avocado), and various other fruit, nut, and seed crops.

Question 4

What is the AgriSound sensor?

Accepted Answer

The AgriSound sensor (formerly Polly™) is our specialised, field-deployed monitoring device. Designed for long-term agricultural use, each solar-powered unit automatically transmits data to the platform and measures pollinator acoustic activity, temperature, humidity, light levels, and location-specific environmental data.

Question 5

How does the technology work?

Accepted Answer

AgriSound uses bioacoustic technology to detect the unique sound signatures of different pollinators. These signals are processed using advanced machine learning models and delivered through the AgriSound Hub, allowing growers to visualise real-time pollinator activity levels, bee movement patterns, and environmental conditions.

Question 6

Can the system differentiate between pollinator species?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our machine learning models are trained to identify specific acoustic signatures. Currently, we can classify Honeybees (Apis mellifera) and Bumblebees (Bombus species). As our proprietary dataset grows, we continue to develop and release additional pollinator classifications.

Question 7

What are Smart Tags?

Accepted Answer

Smart Tags are a lightweight, low-friction data collection tool. They serve as an ideal entry point for growers to record structured field observations, such as flower observations, fruit development stages, pollinator activity, and hive inspections. These tags integrate seamlessly with the AgriSound Hub.

Question 8

Do sensors require internet connectivity in the field?

Accepted Answer

No fixed infrastructure or farm Wi-Fi is required. AgriSound sensors utilise low-power connectivity to transmit data directly from the field, making them perfect for remote agricultural environments where traditional connectivity may be limited.

Question 9

How long does it take to install the sensors?

Accepted Answer

Installation is designed to be quick and straightforward, taking as little as 5 minutes from unboxing to complete registration. A full field deployment can typically be finished in just a few hours, and many growers choose to install the devices themselves with our remote support.

Question 10

How many sensors are needed?

Accepted Answer

Every deployment is designed using the AgriSound Deployment Planner, which recommends the optimal number and placement of sensors based on your crop, site layout, monitoring objectives and the level of insight required.

Whether you're monitoring a single field, multiple blocks or an entire estate, the planner creates a deployment tailored to your operation, ensuring the right sensor density for meaningful data and actionable insights.

Question 11

How long do sensors stay in the field?

Accepted Answer

Generally, sensors remain deployed for the entire flowering period, which ranges from a few weeks to several months. Some programmes extend this to track pre-bloom activity and the progression of fruit development.

Question 12

What are the commercial models for AgriSound sensors?

Accepted Answer

AgriSound offers flexible commercial options designed to suit different deployment strategies:

Purchase – Own your monitoring infrastructure with a one-time hardware investment, then pay only for the platform licence and the data collected during each monitoring period.

Question 13

How does pricing work over multiple years?

Accepted Answer

Most customers choose to purchase their sensor infrastructure, making it a long-term asset. This means the largest investment is typically made in Year 1, with significantly lower annual costs in subsequent years, covering only the platform licence, data collection and any optional professional services.

For organisations planning long-term monitoring, AgriSound can design 3- or 5-year programmes that spread investment over multiple seasons, lock subscription pricing and provide discounted multi-year commitments.

Both options include access to the AgriSound Hub platform, with the same analytics, reporting and collaboration tools. Additional premium analytics and consultancy services can be added as your monitoring programme grows.

Question 14

Is there a subscription fee for the software?

Accepted Answer

Yes. AgriSound Hub is a subscription-based platform. This ensures you always have access to the latest AI models, real-time dashboards, and automated reporting features. Subscription costs are typically bundled with the hardware for the first season.

Question 15

What is the 'Year 1 Insurance Policy'?

Accepted Answer

We view the first year of deployment as an 'Insurance Policy' for your yield. By benchmarking your site, we help you separate weather-driven suppression from hive performance issues. This data-led certainty allows you to identify exactly where your ROI is being lost and act before the next season.

Question 16

What is the typical ROI for a commercial grower?

Accepted Answer

Commercial trials have consistently demonstrated a 5-20% yield uplift through improved pollination management. For most high-value crops, the system pays for itself within the first season by identifying and closing yield gaps that were previously invisible.

Question 17

What is the AgriSound Hub?

Accepted Answer

The AgriSound Hub is your central command centre—the 'Operating System' for your agronomy data. It is a secure platform where all sensor and field data is collected, structured, and analysed. Users can access real-time dashboards, historical trends, and AI-driven insights across production, biodiversity, and ESG metrics.

Question 18

What data insights do growers receive?

Accepted Answer

AgriSound provides deep-dive analytics across multiple agronomic pillars. You receive real-time risk alerts, activity intensity heatmaps, biodiversity indices, and automated 'Evidence Packs' that provide the scientific proof needed for operational improvements and ESG reporting.

Question 19

How does AgriSound help with supply chain transparency?

Accepted Answer

For food retailers and large-scale producers, AgriSound Hub provides a standardised, objective metric for biodiversity and agronomic health across the entire supply chain. This 'Independent Truth' is essential for ESG reporting, verifying sustainability claims, and identifying operational risks.
